Know Your Own Strengths
My guest today is Dr. Jim Harter, the Chief Scientist for Gallup's workplace management and wellbeing practices. Jim is the primary researcher and author of the first large-scale, multi-organization study to investigate the relationships between work-unit employee engagement and business results. This study currently covers 112,000 business units and includes 2.7 million employees in 276 organizations, across 54 industries and in 96 countries. Jim is also the author of several best-selling books that delve into our relationships with our workplace, our lives, and leadership. His most recent book, Culture Shock, is a fascinating look at how the post pandemic work environment is rapidly evolving and how those changes are affecting our ability to lead people and keep them engaged with their work and teammates. I am excited to have Jim on lessons learned because for almost 40 years he has been studying how people interact with their organizations, their leadership and each other and, to say the least, he has gained some true insights that will help us become better leaders.
